About the Boat

The Brisbane Sport Fishing Adventure Club boat Megumi is a 44ft custom Assegai, built in Qld by prestige custom boat yard Assegai Marine and launched in 2006. Costing $1,600,000 to build and outfit with equipment and tackle, it is in every way an excellent purpose built sport fishing machine and has just undergone a major refit to bring it back to as new condition.

Megumi is in 2B survey capable of working up to 200nm offshore and skippered and managed by Ken Brown, who holds Marine Master 5 and MED 2 qualifications. A top experienced marlin fishing deckhand will always be part of the crew.

Megumi is equipped with a complete range of Furuno Nav Net electronics, incorporating GPS/chart plotter, sounder and radar. The vessel sleeps 3 plus 2 crew for overnight trips and has comfortable bunks, a big shower with plenty of water, an excellent hot water system, large eutectic refrigeration and freezers, ice maker, air conditioned saloon and a full galley with gas cook top, electric oven and a microwave oven.

Megumi is fully outfitted with the best fishing tackle including Shimano Tiagra 130lb, 80lb and 50lb reels on custom Wilson's Texalium Live Fibre chair rods, Tiburon Smart Shift light tackle reels on custom Wilson's Texalium Live Fibre light tackle rods, a wide variety of light and heavy tackle lures, Schoponich Lees fighting chair and harness, live bait tank, tuna tubes tag poles, gaffs and perfect ergonomics for fighting fish.

Megumi is based in Manly Harbour, but will operate from Mooloolaba and Southport when the fishing off those areas is good.
